Holiday Card 2014 Number 2

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my Blog. Today I'm sharing my first ever Shaker card. I just love watching other people do these and have wanted to make one for a while. I watched lots of videos and got a few tips and tricks from different people.

First I stamped my image making sure that it was more in the centre. I coloured him in and stuck some foam squares all around the edge of the card. There can be no gaps otherwise whatever you put in will fall out. I used some snow flakes and ordinary sequins and put a few in the image area. I cut a blue border by measuring it would fit first. The border seemed really bare so I used the snowflake stamps that came with the stamp set. I used brilliance moonlight white ink pad. The only thing I can say for certain about this ink pad is to leave it to dry for a while because it smudges very easily.

I stuck some acetate to the border before sticking it all down on the foam squares. I really like this card and really happy how it turned out. However I have noticed that the sequins are sticking to the foam squares sides. It is quite frustrating. I have seen Kristina Werner use an anti static powder tool on hers. (I absolutely love her cards and she is amazing. If you haven't heard of her before check out her Blog and she also makes videos on you tube.) I totally forgot about doing it while making this card. I only remembered when they started sticking to the sides. So try that tip out if you do have the same problem. I'll just have to tell the recipient of my card that the sequins are supposed to stick to the sides lol.

Apart for that little mishap I am glad I finally tried a shaker card and would try to do some more in the future.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today and please feel free to leave a comment. all comments are welcome. If you have other tips on how the make a shaker card please leave them in the comments below.
