New Home Card

Hello Card Makers,

Today I'm sharing a card with you that I made for my mother when she moved into her new home. It's always nice to give someone a card who has just moved. It's a new beginning for them.

I scored my card stock and put it to the side. I stamped my images from Paper Smooches Bitty Bungalows Stamp Set and colored them in with my Promarkers.

I got some backing paper from my Dovecraft Back To Basics IV Paper Pack and adhered my images using Foam Squares. I colored the bottom of the backing paper in green for the ground. I adhered it to the top left corner of my green card stock.

I got some white card stock and stamped my sentiment. I rounded the corners of my sentiment and adhered it on the bottom right corner of the card stock and added some red lines with my Gel pen in the corner of my sentiment to tie everything together.

I rounded the corners on one edge to finish the card. I added some dash lines to finish it off. I love the simplicity of this card. If  you color and cut out images of your card then put the card together you can make many without getting to bored or tired.

Thank you for visiting my blog and feel free to leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you.

Love

Girly Birthday Card

Welcome Card Maker's,

I made a card yesterday and decided to share it with you guys today. I'm not a very girly girl but I know people who are and a girly birthday card is what they would want.

I started with some pink card stock and folded it. I then got out my pink Distress Inks and decided to use some copy paper and put the ink pad to the paper and hoped for the best. I wanted some pink background paper and didn't have any that suited what I wanted. I decided to use the Picked Raspberry color and cut it out and tore the edges to give it a rough look. I stuck it to the card with some glue.

I stamped my cat image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used Versamark ink on the body and embossed black glitter finished embossing powder. for the head because I didn't want the embossing powder on the eyes I used my embossing pen and added the embossing powder. I used a small tipped brush to brush away the powder in the places where I didn't want them and used my heat tool

I used two pink Marabou feathers and put them in the top left hand corner with some glue and stuck my image in the center.

For the sentiment I tried using some pink embossing powder but it did not turn out the way I wanted so I had to get some pink paper and used picked raspberry distress ink and used my aquaflow pen to add some color to the edges. I stuck the paper with some foam adhesive. I used some more marabou feathers behind the sentiment.

Because of the feathers I felt there was no need to add anymore to the card or it would be to overcrowded and not appealing the eye. I love how the cat stands out from the pink and I love how girly it is.

Make a Scene Monday - Friend Card

Hello Happy Crafters,

Welcome to my blog today. It was a really nice sunny day yesterday and today its gone cloudy and rainy again, so to cheer myself up from the doom and gloom I made a nice friendship card.

I made it using Mustard Seed Distress Ink on water color paper. I added the ink by placing the pad to my glass mat, sprayed water on the ink and pressed my paper onto it.

I used my Lawn Fawn Critters in the Savannah and the Critters on the Farm stamp sets and used the mouse, the lion and the giraffe. I colored them in using my Promarkers.  I cut a thin strip of watercolor paper and colored it in green and stuck it down using glue to the bottom of the card to be the ground. I then adhered the critters using some foam squares.

For my sentiment I used a stamp set from Personal Impressions. I stamped it onto some pale yellow patterned paper from Back to Basics IV from Dovecraft. I love this paper pack as its so versatile and can be used for almost any occasion.

I cut my sentiment into a flag on one edge and positioned it in the top right hand corner and stuck it down using my tape runner. I then got an orange card stock as the base and adhered my watercolor paper using some foam adhesive.

I love making friendship cards because it can be used for any occasion like a birthday, or a thank you or even a thinking of you card. The list is endless.

I like how this one turned out. The three critters that wouldn't normally be seen together and the sentiment states that they are friends, so its a good card to give to a friend that is maybe your complete opposite but who you get along with anyway.

I hope you like my card and feel free to leave any comments below by clicking the Comment button.

No Craftiness, Just News

Hello Happy Crafter's,

Just a short post today. I got some really bad news on Monday. The shop I work part time in is closing next month. I have been working there for 6 years. I cannot believe I will be out of a job in just 6 weeks. It's a hell of a shock to me. Everyone working there is in the same position and the way the unemployment is going I will have to buckle down and really go job hunting. I cannot go far as I don't drive and I will have to rely on buses.

I haven't really ever written a C.V. before, it was always filling in application forms when i was last looking. I hope to carry on showing you my cards. Hopefully get a job where i will be able to do this and go to work.

I'm trying to think of the bright side. Thinking this is like a new path, a life change, getting out of a job which I didn't like in the first place etc. I just hope I will find something soon.

now enough of the depressing news, here are some pictures to cheer you up.

These were taken at different times and at different locations. The tiger photo was taken at London Zoo and the Sheep photo was taken when Dave and I were walking with our cameras, the photo of my two dogs were taken in my home.

Hope you are all well, hope to have a card for you soon. I'm just a little busy finding out how to write a C.V. and checking the internet for jobs at the moment. I shall keep you posted on the job hunting and the card making.

Best Wishes - Doggy Card

Hey Card Makers,

Thank you for visiting my blog today. Hope your enjoying the weekend wherever you may be. I have a very simple card to share with you today, it's more of a cheer up kind of card. I used Lawn Fawn Critters in the dog Park Stamp Set and colored them in using Promarkers.

I got some blue card stock and using a scrap of backing paper from Riverbank Revels  I cut some  into a thin strip using my Tonic Studio's Small Guillotine. I stuck it to the bottom of the card stock using a tape runner.

I cut out my images and stuck them down using foam adhesive squares. I put the dog and the ball together to make it look like he was paying with it. I thought it looked rather bear so I stuck a little bug in the corner.
I got the sentiment from a pack I bought when I first started making cards and used Distress Ink left over on the sponge I think it was Crushed Olive but I cant be certain.

I found that the card still seemed too bare so I cut out a butterfly using my Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. My boyfriend got it for my birthday last year and I love it. I haven't got many things for it but I love using The Embossing Folders.

Anyway I got the Teal Sizzix Big Shot and it came with some Big Dies and there's one with a big butterfly. I ran that through my Big Shot and got out a silver gel pen and added a few details to the butterfly. Before sticking it down to the card  I drew antennae  straight on the card.

I placed glue on the body of the butterfly and stuck it down. I did not want the wings to be stuck down as you can pull them back from the card and it looks as if the butterfly just landed on the card.

I put the sentiment next to the butterfly. I used a silver gel pen and a rular to drew straight lines on the edge of the card. I think it turned out well.

Tell me what you think of my card by leaving a comment below.

Snappy Birthday

Hey Crafters,

Thank you for visiting my blog today. I have a card to share with you and I'm happy with how it turned out. I wasn't really sure how this card was going to look and kind of let the inspiration come to me as I went along. I usually do this when I'm not really sure how its going to turn out.

I put Crushed Olive Distress Ink on my glass mat and sprayed it with water. I stuck my watercolor paper with the rough side down. I dabbed it a few times in the ink to get look I wanted and put it to one side to dry.

I stamped the crocodile using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with Promarkers. I stuck it to my dry background and began working on my sentiment.

I used a sentiment stamp set but when I inked up happy birthday I got the ink off the H and stamped it on the card. I then got a S and N and stamped them in the front. The sentiment says Snappy Birthday rather than Happy birthday. I think it's just a bit of fun and makes it unique in a way.

I added some distress ink from my blending tool to help the sentiment blend in with the card. I did not was the sentiment to be a focus point. I cut the sentiment into banners and stuck a green gem at either end and stuck in down using foam adhesive squares.

I found some dark green ribbon and put it round twice on my card and had it cross at the side. I think it fills the bottom of the card as it was looking rather empty. I rounded the corners before sticking the water color paper to the card stock. I put some Glossy Accents on the crocodile to give it more of a wet look and to help it stamp out from the rest of the card.

Tell me what you think by leaving a comment below.

Making A Scene - Wizard Card

Hello Card Markers,

Today the sun is shining and I have the back door open so my dog can come and go as he pleases. He's not been well these last few weeks and he's just finished his second course of antibiotics. Hopefully, today will be the last time he'll have to go to the vets. He hates going and being examined by the vet. He whines every time to be let out of the treatment room.

Today I have a card to share with you from my Papersmooches Stamp set called Magical Dreams. I love this stamp and really enjoyed putting this card together. I used my promarkers to color in the images and blended the colors to get a dimension look.

For the background I used my new aqua flow brush. I used crushed olive distress ink and put it on my glass mat. I put water into the brush so there is no need to spray the ink with water. I found the brush worked very well and enjoyed using this technique. I kept on adding water to the ink to make it lighter therefore I did not have to use different greens to get this look. I think it turned out well and would definately use this technique again, but maybe with a few different colors to mix together.

I stamped some grass with darker green ink to give the focus on the ground and stamped all the way across. I even stamped grass on the bottom of my images, to give the impression that they were standing in the grass rather than in front. I think the scene is quite cute with the wizard and the frog. Is the Wizard trying to turn the frog or has he turned a prince into the frog already? I stuck them onto the background using small adhesive squares.

The sentiment is made by using white card scrap and making a tail at the end. I used memento ink around the edges and stuck a gem on the end of the sentiment. I rounded the corners of the cardstock and the scene and stuck it down using foam adhesive. I used glossy accents on the frog to make it stand out and to maybe show that the frog was recently in water as it also gives it a wet look.

I think this card is great for little boys or even little girls who love fantasy. The only time consuming thing is coloring the images and waiting for the back ground to dry. You can always use your heat tool to dry the background but the coloring depends on how fussy you want to be.

Please leave a comment below. whether it be good or bad I would love to hear from you.

Love Kitty

Hey Guys,

Hello and welcome to my blog today.

I've another image from Newtons Antics to share with you. This time it's the two cuddling cats. I think this image is so cute. I used to have two cats who used to cuddle up together and this image reminded me of them. Sadly both cats are not with me anymore.

I colored in the image using colors which were similar to Newton on the stamp packaging. I tried to copy Newton from the picture as I am still learning about Promarkers. I am by no means an artist in fact I'm far from it. I can just about handle coloring in. I used my black marker pen on the outside edge so no white edges would show on the finished card.

I am itching to get my hands on a Memento Duel Pen. I hope by using it my images would look better. The marker pen I am currently using is not good at all and I feel it ruins the look of my stamped images. I shall be buying one on my next shopping spree.

Do you know of any other pens or markers to go round edges of stamped images? I will be grateful for your input on this.

I got out Me to You with Love pack again and used two patterns from it. I thought they both looked good and stuck them together using my Hobbycraft Value Tape Runner. I put them at an angle so the red paper would show more. With some of the left over patterned paper I turned it over so the white side was up and stamped my sentiments from Newtons Antics stamp set. I couldn't decide which to use so I used them both. I used one as the main sentiment and the other I stuck to the pattern paper to make it look as though it belonged there. Before sticking them both down with my tape runner I used Fired Brick Distress Ink around the edges to tie it in with the pattern paper.

I sponged some Fired Brick Distress Ink around the card stock to soften the edges and to help everything be tied in together. I had a old ribbon left over in my stash and used a red one where the fold is. I stuck it to the back with some washy tape.

Tell me what you think by leaving a comment below, I cannot wait to hear from you.

A Grey Kitty Card

Hello Guys,

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today,

Today I made a card using my new Newtons Antics stamp set. I just fell in love with it. I love buying new stamp sets and just playing around with them. You'll probably see more from my Newton's Antics stamp set this week. I just cant get enough of it.
I decided to color my stamped kitty in grey because I just think grey kittens just look so cute. (Have you seen the advert with the grey kitten in the packet of biscuits yet?) I also stamped the ball of wool stamp, I cut off the little string from it as it would have been hard to cut out. After going around the edges of my images with a marker pen I cut tiny slits by the kitten's paws and put the ball of wool in between them to make it look as though the kitten's playing with it. I used some backing paper from my Me To You With Love Pack left over from another card and I used my scalloped scissors around the edges. I stuck on the grey kitten using tiny foam squares. I softened the edges of my backing paper using  worn lipstick distress ink.

I got out some pale yellow card stock and rounded the corners. I pierced holes around the edges. I cut some multicolored thread and used back stitch by hand all the way around the card. I find sewing takes ages so I usually do it in front of the TV. This time I was watched video on the internet. It helps with my concentration and stops me from getting bored. I always have too much thread and had quite a bit left over this time. I used my scalloped edged patterned paper and looped the string around the edges. I think it made it look cuter and helped tie it in with the card stock. I adhered the thread to the backing paper using some washy tape at the back. Washy tape always comes in handy for adhering things on the back of card or paper and they're usually on hand so I don't have to go hunting through the house for tape. Which is always a good thing.

I used a sentiment from Personal Impressions and used Worn Lipstick around the edge. I left a space on one side and used a blending tool to cover it with worn lipstick. I used some left over thread (I told you I cut off too much) and sewed a button on the end of the sentiment. I used a silvery, glittery button to try and match up with the kitten. I stuck the sentiment unevenly on purpose to give it more of a playful feel. This is the first card I have ever used a button in my card making. I have seen them being used in a wide variety of cards. I'm glad I've finally got round to buying some to try out.

Overall this card is a fun, colorful and playful card and would be loved by any cat lover. I think I may be buying more Newton's Designs stamps in the future. I cant wait for my next shopping spree.

If you have any opinion on my card please feel free to leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you.
